Every late spring, a new covey of California Quail make an appearance in my backyard. Our family loves to watch as they grow from tiny, fluffy babies, to full grown young adults. They are quite adorable to watch as they mature in their skills and independence. But perhaps the most fascinating piece we observe, is the intentional parenting that takes place. Both parents can be seen and heard (their various calls are amazing) leading their young, modeling the skills needed to navigate all aspects of life.

I want to be more like those quail parents. I want to parent well in the everyday moments. Life can get busy very fast and pretty quickly we find ourselves ushering our children from one good thing to the next. We easily forget that so much of what is shaping our children is not happening in the big activities as much as what is happening in the moments in between. And parents, we need to be more intentional and purposeful so that we can approach those moments well.

Are you looking for encouragement in parenting? Then you’ve come to the right place. I too am on this parenting journey and invite you to come along with me. In my blog you will find conversations about the myriad of moments we have with our kids, insights I learn from the Bible, and even posts written specifically for your kids to read.
